The film follows the
existential crisis of an "unnamed" urban rich woman (Vanessa Redgrave ), when she suddenly becomes aware, of the truth of world politics, and economic exploitation and vapidconsumerism , and soon visits an "unnamed" war-tornthird world country, that is when her life is changed forever. From living comfortable in the bubble of her comfortable and pleasure-filled life, she finds herself thrown in the moral dilemma of leading a leading a morally consistent life, and confronting her inner blindness to the reality of life, and class differences, outside her own little sphere, guarded by her sense of entitlement.All this eventually leads to delirious bout of fever, in the run-down hotel in a third world country, in the middle of the night, culminating in a spiritual awakening, when she finally begins to see the truth about her life, and her innate connection with every poor person out there, and the transient nature of her material life.
