Ben Silburn

Ben Silburn (born 26 September 1968, Nottinghamshire, UK) is a British television presenter, radio presenter and comedy writer.

Television and Radio

On television he has presented on BBC programmes including "Click Online" and "Fast Track".

On radio he presents "Adventures in Science" and has written for, "The Alan Davies Show", "The Curried Goat", and "Stuff the Week". Ben's first joke for radio, on the satirical BBC show "Week Ending", earned him £4.11. Unfortunately the joke has long since been lost. Ben was the writer and presenter of "The Square of Pythagoras" on BBC Radio 4. The programme received the Gold Award for 'Best Educational Programme' at the 1996 Sony Radio Academy Awards.

Theatre

Ben first appeared in professional theatre was alongside Jonathan Price and Tom Wilkinson in Richard Eyre's production of "Caucasian Chalk Circle" atthe Nottingham Playhouse in 1972. Somewhat later he went on to adapt "The Square of Pythagoras" for the theatre as "Counting to Infinity" an educational science play for children which played at the Hampstead Theatre in 1998.

Improv Comedy

He is a founder member, actor and comp-ere of the easylaughs comedy improvisation theatre group in Amsterdam The Netherlands. Prior to this Ben had performed stand-up comedy in London.

Voiceovers

Taking a lead from his hero and role-model, Orson Wells, He has recently added voice-over work to his repertoire. His voice was described by the British national newspaper The Observer as "as comforting as a goose-down duvet".

University

Ben read Mathematics at Bristol University in the UK.

After graduating Ben got a job in the Cambridge Science Park and became an active member of the Cambridge Footlights comedy group. He was a writer on the 1991-92 production "...And Don't Come Back".

Ben is also skilled in IT, in particular web development. He has found his specialist skills in the area of video streaming to be in demand in his adopted home of Amsterdam.
