Introduction

Amsterdam University College (AUC) is a Liberal Arts and Sciences College founded in 2008 by the Vrije Universiteit (Amsterdam) and the University of Amsterdam. This is the fourth University College founded in the Netherlands. The other three University Colleges are located in Utrecht, Middelburg and Maastricht.

The first 200 students to attend the AUC will commence in September 2009. Amsterdam University College is working to develop a student body composed of 50% foreign students and 50% international, local students. National and international students will be admitted after a period of selection.

Prospective students will live and study on campus. But when AUC opens, its academic buildings will be located for the first three years on the eastern edge of Amsterdam city centre, in the Plantage neighbourhood.

Curriculum

The [http://www.auc.nl/acadprog academic programme] consists of a wide and intensive 3-year Bachelor degree taught entirely in English. Students may choose their own study path within the programme. Students will be able to follow subjects of their own choice connected to their chosen theme. On graduating with a Bachelor degree students will be able to follow up with a Master programme anywhere in the world.
