Logie Awards of 1972

The 1972 Logie Award Ceremony was held on 18 February 1972. The awards featured appearances by Rock Hudson and Roger Moore. The awards were broadcast live in Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide and broadcast later elsewhere.

The Gold Logie was won by Gerard Kennedy for his lead role on "Division 4" and he also won best actor with Pat Smith winning the best actress award for her role in the same series. "Division 4" also won best Australian drama.

The other award winners included:

* Best Actor: Gerard Kennedy;

* Best Actress: Pat Smith, Division 4;

* Best Australian Drama: Division 4

* Best New Drama: "Matlock Police";

* Best Comedy: "The Group";

* Best Teenage Personality: Johnny Farnham;

* Best Australian Music or Variety Show: "Young Talent Time"

* George Wallace Memorial Logie For Best New Talent: Jamie Redfern

* Best Commercial: Fanta Fancy Nancy;

* Best Overseas Show UK: "The Persuaders!"

* Best Overseas Show US: "The Mod Squad"
