Ashlie Theresa Brillault (born May 21, 1987) is an American actress. She played the role of "Kate" on the Disney Channel's Lizzie McGuire and reprised her role in "The Lizzie McGuire Movie", which was released in May 2, 2003.

Early life and career

Biography

Ashlie Brillault was born in San Francisco on May 21, 1987, the first of four children, and raised in Long Beach. Her debut into public life began at the age of three, while modeling in a bridal fashion show. After quitting modeling for several years, Ashlie went back to the profession in 1998. For the next few years, she did print ads and such for companies like K-Mart. However, Ashlie later realized that acting was what she wanted to do.

In 2000, she landed the part as pretty yet ruthless Kate Sanders/Saunders on a Disney Channel show called "Lizzie McGuire". Although she was only supposed to be a guest star, the producers loved her so much that they brought her back to appear on many episodes. After debuting in 2001, the show became a phenomenal success. However, in 2002 [after two seasons] , "Lizzie McGuire" stopped filming. Disney channel sets a 65-episode limit on its shows, and "Lizzie McGuire" had reached this limit. Although the channel was considering breaking this rule and filming a third season, disputes about Hilary Duff's salary prevented this from occurring.

Nonetheless, it was decided that a movie version of the show was to be filmed. In the Fall of 2002, the gang [minus Lalaine, the actress who played Miranda] headed to Vancouver and Rome for her role in "The Lizzie McGuire Movie". The film hit theatres in May of 2003 to mixed reviews. However, it still managed to be a success among moviegoers.

Ashlie was in a few projects after "The Lizzie McGuire Movie," such as a guest starring role on the UPN television series "One On One," playing herself in the ABC Family series "Switched!", and playing herself in a Hawaiian sketch comedy show called "Tabby Tales TV". However, she then decided that she wanted to be a regular teenager for a while instead of an actress. Ashlie graduated from high school in 2005 and is currently enrolled at a local college. At the moment, she is holding off on acting and is focusing on school instead. Ashlie is a trained cabaret singer and hip-hop dancer and considered pursuing a music career after Lizzie McGuire ended, but she chose to focus on her studies instead, explaining that she doesn't want to be "pigeon-holed as yet another actress who released an album."
