Duncan Thomas Ray was born in
Far North Queensland in1957 . Having lived his whole life inNorth Queensland his unique knowledge of localAboriginal and European history in the settlement of this area, particularly in relation to early mining explorations and camps, have been recorded in several books including "Mullanburra: People of the Mulgrave River", which he co-authored with the late George Gilbert Davis.Nungabana also visit http://earthsci.org/aboriginal/Ngadjonji%20History/food/weapons/Making%20a%20Shield.htm . He lead an expedition to theUndara lava tubes in 1988 establishingBaylis as the longestlava tube in the southern hemisphere. He is a keen historian and has recently been recognized by theEacham Historical Society who have given him life membership for his efforts in the areas of historial publishing, research, the organizing of many historical expeditions, Chairman of the graves committee. Duncan is a talented artist working the areas of painting, sculpture,photography and jewellery. He has won many prizes over the years and has had his photos published in many books and journals.
