Barbara Stager

Barbara Stager (november 30 1948) is a convicted double murderer who first received the death penalty for the 1988 murder of her husband Russell Stager but the sentence where later decreased to a life sentence. Barbara is also a suspect in her first husbands death, Stager is believed to have shot them both in the head with a gun when still in bed. The jury only took 44 minutes to sentence Barbara Stager to death on 31 august,1993 which later was overruled and decreased to a life sentence. Stager currently serves her sentence at the North Carolina Department of Correction.

Murder

At 6:08 a.m. on February 1, 1988, the police in Durham, North Carolina got the call that a man had been shot. Barbara Sanger told the officers the gun her husband kept under his pillow accidentally fired and shot him in the head. According to shocked friends, coworkers and family members, Barbara was a devoted wife, mother and Christian.
