Rory Brady (born
20 August 1957 ) is a barrister who wasAttorney General of Ireland from 2002 to 2007.Brady sat his
Leaving Certificate inSynge Street CBS in 1975 and went on to study law inUniversity College Dublin where he was awarded a Bachelor of Civil Law Degree in 1978. Brady is a former tutor in Business Law in the Faculty of Commerce at University College Dublin He was called to the Irish Bar atThe Honorable Society of King's Inns in 1979; and by the Middle Temple in London in 1986. He did his pupillage with the now Judge Vivian Lavan. Brady was called to the Inner Bar ofIreland in 1996and was Chairman of the General Council of the Bar of Ireland from October 2000 until June 2002. On6 June 2002 he was appointed as Attorney General by thePresident of Ireland , on the nomination ofAn Taoiseach ,Bertie Ahern T.D. He is also a Member of theIrish Council of State since June 2002. He has also been a membership of Statutory Bodies within Ireland, these include:Member of the Courts Service Board (October 2000 to June 2002; Chairman of the Censorship of Publications Board (December 2001 to June 2002); Member of theGarda Síochána Complaints Board from April 2002 to June 2002 and Chairman of the Takeover Panel from 2008.External links
