Big Children's Choir (USSR)

Big Children's Choir of National Radio and Central Television ( _ru. "Большой детский хор Всесоюзного радио и Центрального телевидения" (БДХ) ) is one of the most popular children's choirs in the ex-USSR.

History

Was founded in 1970, based in Moscow. Its chief conductor was Victor Popov (1934-2008), People's Artist of the USSR, professor.

The Choir had a very big repertoire contains over thousands of different musical compositions, from small songs to cantatas, from classical music to soviet patriotic songs. The Choir had the widest popularity in soviet and post-soviet society because of its repertoire for children including songs from children's and teenagers' films.

The repertoire of the choir contains compositions written by composers such as Mikhail Glinka, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Sergei Prokofiev, Dmitri Shostakovich, Johann Sebastian Bach, Aleksandra Pakhmutova, Vladimir Shainsky, Eugeny Krylatov, Jury Chichkov etc.
