Cunning Dorx

Cunning Dorx

The Cunning Dorx are an east Austrian alternative pock band.

The band was founded by Christof Ulreich, Beno Unger and Patrick Peklar, then schoolmates in Unterschützen / Burgenland in April 1994. Lead guitarist Alfons Bauernfeind joined a few weeks later.

By the time of their first album release ("Flauschangriff", 2001), Beno Unger was not part of the band anymore, although he continued to record and perform with them later on. The remaining lineup included Christof Ulreich (Vocals), Alfons Bauernfeind (guitar), Patrick Peklar (drums) and Albert Bock (bass).

In 2003, bassist Bernd Schmudermaier and keyboarder Markus Hoffmann joined the band. The use of synth and piano added a new variety to the former guitar-based sound of the Cunning Dorx. Bernd Schmudermaiers succinct bass drive changed the band's style to a more rounded ensemble. Their second album, "This kind of beauty", was produced by the Viennese label "oddtime records" and released in October 2005. The single, "The Blue Rider" is on air since then on Austrian alternative music radio stations (e.g. fm4). The video was shot by Ulrich Dallinger.

The Cunning Dorx play what they call "Post-post-modern Eclectical Rock". This odd genre is due in part to the varied backgrounds of the band members, who had previous played and sung in alternative rock, hardcore punk, blues, jazz, celtic folk bands and classical ensembles.
