Bobby DeMuro

Robert John DeMuro (born June 5, 1986 in Denver, Colorado) is an American professional baseball player currently under contract with the Schaumburg Flyers (Schaumburg, Illinois) of the Northern League. DeMuro is a right-handed relief specialist, and a sidearmer known for his unique pitching motion.

Bobby attended George Washington High School and later Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina. In high school, he was a four-time All-Conference performer and also played football. As for his collegiate career, he currently holds the school record for games pitched in a season, coming in 2007, where he appeared in a team-high 33 games. DeMuro was also a 4-time member of the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll, and was an honorable mention Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week in 2006. DeMuro finished his collegiate career with a 3-2 record and 1 save spanning 65 games pitched.

DeMuro also has significant collegiate summer baseball experience, pitching for three different teams spanning 2005, 2006 and 2007. In 2005, DeMuro pitched for the Orlando Shockers (Orlando, Florida) in the Florida Collegiate Summer League. In 2006, DeMuro signed with the Rock Hill Sox (Rock Hill, South Carolina) of the Southern Collegiate Baseball League, where he led the league in games pitched, games finished, and saves, and earned a spot on the SCBL All-Star Team. In 2007, DeMuro played with the Fayetteville Swampdogs (Fayetteville, North Carolina) of the Coastal Plain League, and enjoyed his best season yet. He appeared in 21 games for the SwampDogs, pitching 21 innings, and holding his opponents to only 17 hits and 6 runs, while recording 6 saves. With DeMuro's help, Fayetteville finished the regular season at 42-14, becoming the best team in Coastal Plain League history.

DeMuro signed a professional contract with the Schaumburg Flyers on August 11, 2008. In Schaumburg, DeMuro appeared in 5 games, pitching 7.1 innings and striking out 5 while holding opposing hitters to a team-low .231 batting average against.

In the offseason, DeMuro resides in Charlotte, North Carolina.
