Steve Mariotti is the Founder and President of the
National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), and is considered one of the leading experts on youthentrepreneurship education . He founded NFTE in 1987 after his work as aspecial education teacher in some of the toughest schools in theNew York City school system showed him that student interest in learning could be increased through the lens of entrepreneurship. Since its launch, Steve Mariotti has led NFTE to reach over 186,000 young people through programs in 21 states and 13 countries.Steve Mariotti is also the author of eight books on entrepreneurship. These books include "Entrepreneurs in Profile", "The Young Entrepreneur's Guide to Starting and Running a Business", and the textbooks "How to Start and Operate a Small Business" and "Entrepreneurship: Starting and Operating a Small Business".
Steve Mariotti's work has been documented in national TV including ABC Evening News and 20/20. His impact has been recognized through awards numerous awards including: Inc. magazine Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award, an
Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, the National Director’s Entrepreneurship Award from the Minority Business Development Agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce, the Association of Education Publishers’ Golden Lamp Award, the ACE/Currie Foundation Humanitarian Venture Award, and America’s Top High School Business Teacher.'Steve Mariotti is an alumni of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
