The Goggomobil was a
microcar produced in the Bavarian townDingolfing afterWorld War II byHans Glas .There was a conventional looking four passenger two-door sedan and a very sleek
sports coupé . The engine was an air cooled, two stroke, two cylinder unit originally of 250 cc and Convert|15|hp|kW|0|abbr=on but increased to 395 cc and Convert|20|hp|kW|0|abbr=on. It had an electric pre-selective transmission built byGETRAG and a manual clutch. The engine was behind the rear wheels. Suspension was independent all round using coil springs with swing axles.219,531 sedans and 66,511 coupés were built from 1955 to 1969. Between 1957 and 1961 some 700

The Glas Auto works at Dingolfing were subsequently taken over by BMW.

Yellow Pages ran a well-known advertising campaign which referred to a Goggomobil ("not the Dart") [ cite news

The Yellow Pages advertisement was used as a basis for an advertisement forMobil , properly licensed from the producers of the original advertisement. Another advertisement, for Shannons Insurance and featuring an unauthorised reference to the original Yellow Pages advertisement, resulted in aFederal Court of Australia case. The case (TELSTRA CORPORATION LIMITED AND SENSIS PTY LTD v ROYAL AND SUN ALLIANCE INSURANCE AUSTRALIA LIMITED) was resolved in favour of the producers of the Yellow Pages,Sensis [Federal Court of Australia: Telstra Corporation Limited v Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Australia Limited [2003] FCA 786 (1 August 2003)] .Tommy Dysart featured in all of these advertisements, as did a number of different Goggomobils.
