Lampyridae or Firefly is a low-observable medium
missile fighter (MRMF) developed in1980 by the German aerospace companyMesserschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm (MBB).Development
Developed independently of the
Have Blue prototype andLockheed 'sF-117 stealth fighter , the Lampyridae nonetheless utilised a similar approach. The design was revealed to the US in1987 when a group ofUSAF officers were shown the piloted model, kept in a closed-off section of MBB's plant atOttobrunn inBavaria . Reputedly, later calculations indicated the Lampyridae would have had a lower RCS than the famous Lockheed aircraft.External links
