Urbiotics

Urbiotics or city automation is the branch of urbanism that explores the possibilities of the application of Information communication technology (ICT) to the city. The ultimate goal is that the city becomes an integrated and manageable system that provides a better urban experience to its inhabitants and more efficient use of its resources.

Vision

The urbiotic vision is to deploy pervasive sensor and communication networks in street furniture, pavement, trees and any other element of the urban space to support applications in these five specific fields:

*Improvment of wireless communications (cellular, wi-fi ..)
*Signaling ( signaling pavement, emergency signs, free parking spaces)
*City monitoring (Intelligent transportation systems (ITS), security, noise pollution monitoring)
*Smart street lighting (adaptive intensity and color, energy saving)
*Green space management (watering based on real needs, pest control)
