Riesigk is a municipality in Germany not far from the town of Wittenberg in the district of Wittenberg, Saxony-Anhalt, on the south side of the Elbe river. It has a population of about 215 (2006). It is part of the "Verwaltungsgemeinschaft" Wörlitzer Winkel.

History

The village was chartered in 1200 the first time with the name "Riswig".
*1603 : the area was attached as a part of Anhalt.
*1797 - 1800 : the neogothic church was erected.

*Wörlitzer ParkThe small town of Wörlitz lies 3 km away. The English-style "Wörlitzer Park" is the culmination of the "Dessau-Wörlitzer Gartenreich", which was created in the second half of the 18th century under the sovereignty of Fürst Leopold III. Friedrich Franz von Anhalt-Dessau.

In 2000, UNESCO added "Wörlitzer Park" to the list of World Heritage Sites.
