The Sisters of the Child Jesus

The Sisters of the Child Jesus, is a Roman Catholic religious order, and was founded by Ann-Marie Martel after she died in 1673, in Le Puy, France. In 1676, the congregation received official recognition as The Ladies of Instruction of the Child Jesus.

Four sisters of the congregation arrived in Williams Lake, British Columbia, in 1896, to help, Bishop Durieu, with First Nations people. From this time the congregation has taught in various schools and built schools & foundations across western Canada & Quebec.

Today there are sisters in British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
