- Jordan at the Paralympics
Jordan first participated at theParalympic Games in 1984, and has sent athletes to compete in everySummer Paralympic Games since then, with the exception of the 1992 summer games. The nation has never participated in theWinter Paralympic Games . Jordan has won four Paralympic medals. The first, a silver, was won byImad Gharbawi in thediscus event at the 1996 Atlanta games. In 2000, the country took its first gold medal whenMaha Barghouti won the women's singles table tennis competition. Two more medals were won at the 2004 Paralympics, a silver inshot put byJamil Shibli and a bronze in table tennis by the three-member women's team (Khetam Abuawad , Maha Al Bargouti, andFatemah Al Azzam ).
