Santa Cruz, Rio de Janeiro

Santa Cruz is an extensive and populous middle class neighborhood, average-low and drop of the West Zone of the city of Rio de Janeiro, the most distant of the central area of the city. Cut for the Estrada de Ferro Central do Brasil (in passage operated by Supervia), it possesses a landscape quite diversified, with areas rural, commercial, residential and industrial. It is headquarters of the XIX Administrative Area, also understanding the neighboring neighborhoods of Paciência and Sepetiba. From the installation of Porto de Itaguaí, it is a place in franc development, and that it possesses more than 440 years old of history, being replete of important monuments and with strong infrastructure. It is, however, a neighborhood of contrasts, once due to its vast territorial area, it is one of the most populous neighborhoods, but at the same time one of the least densely towns; a neighborhood with a strong industry, but still with many rural landscapes and one of lowest HDIs of the city.
