The Green Book (BBC)

The Green Book (BBC)

The Green Book was the title of a notorious pamphlet issued in 1950 to BBC producers of comedy programmes telling them what was, and more importantly, what was not then permissible. Its bureaucratic tone and strictures caused great amusement in the comedy world and most of these are now completely out of date.

The text of the Green Book [http://www.langston.com/Fun_People/1994/1994AEU.html] is quoted in the book "Laughter in the Air" [http://www.amazon.co.uk/Laughter-Air-Informal-History-British/dp/0860511499/ref=sr_1_39?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1222592794&sr=8-39] by Barry Took.
