Joanne Verger

Joanne Verger is a Democratic politician in the U.S. state of Oregon. She was the first female mayor of Coos Bay, the largest city on the Oregon Coast, serving four terms.http://www.leg.state.or.us/verger/home.htm] She served in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2001–2004, [http://arcweb.sos.state.or.us/legislative/histleg/statehood/2001reg.htm] [http://arcweb.sos.state.or.us/legislative/histleg/statehood/2002spec.htm] [http://arcweb.sos.state.or.us/legislative/histleg/statehood/2003reg.htm] and was elected to the Oregon State Senate in 2004. She is co-owner of an automobile dealership, and has worked extensively in advertising and marketing.

Verger has won a number of awards, including the Human Rights Award in 1991.
