- El Arca
"El Arca" is a 2007 film based on
Noah's Ark , but focuses more on theanimal s' point of view. The story tends to follow the traditional biblical story; however, both the humans and the animals involved are seen as "talking" creatures throughout the film. "El Arca" is a fine example of South American animation and an amusing yet religious children's film.The Humans
Noah lives in the middle of a desert with his family, which includes his wife, his three sons, and their wives. Although they are not rich they live a fairly happy life and Noah insists that they are living as God would want them to live. Yet evil men such as Farfan and his wife are constantly cheating and lying to satisfy their greed. God becomes disguisted with the way the humans are living and he decides to send a flood to destroy the Earth. Noah is out walking in the forest when he suddenly sees a brilliant beam of light and suddenly hears a thunderous voice. God explains to Noah that he is going to send a flood to destroy the world; yet God is pleased with Noah's kind heart and asks him to build an ark. Noah is then instructed to build an ark big enough for his family and two of every animal. Unbeknowst to Noah, Farfan and his wife discover the ark and sneak aboard right before the flood starts.
The Animals
Noah naturally wishes to save his friends and relatives, so he sends out several doves to deliver letters to them. Unfortunately the doves read the letters and laugh at Noah's warning of a flood (remember, this takes place in the desert), but one loyal white
dove named Pepe takes all the notes and flies off. He accidentally drops a letter directly beneath the door of Prince Xiro's (pronounced Zero) massage room. The younglion reads the letter and informs the king, his elderly father, of the possible flood. The King calls a meeting of all the animals, and everyone but man attends. The King explains that every specie should have a couple go aboard in case the flood is real; however, theDragon , theUnicorn , and aBigfoot type creature are not convinced and stay behind, thinking it to be a trap. The King allows them to stay but asks Kairel, a younglionness who is very organized, to make sure everyone gets to the ark safely. Unbeknownst to the king, the eviltiger Dagnino is planning to take over the throne by proving Xiro to be an incompetent ruler. He is confident that this won't be a difficult task, as Xiro is vain and rather poor at leading the other animals. As the ark is being built the animals prepare and the vain Xiro begins to choose which lionness to take on the voyage. He originally chooses Bruma, a tall blonde lionness, but through a series of unfortunate events Kairel is forced to board the ark while Bruma is left behind after ahippo falls on her.Unfortunately, Xiro only gets half of the letter and thinks the whole thing is a pleasure trip.Once all on board the animals and humans must learn to get along in order to survive the long journey- but can they stand each other to resist eating one another?=English Language Cast=
