Robert Shumake

Dr. Robert Shumake is founder of the real estate and investment firm: Inheritance Investment Group, located in Michigan. He is also the founder of The Robert S. Shumake Relays, a foundation that gives out scholarships based both on academic merit and athletic skill.

Shumake founded First Equity Holdings in 1996. Since then, they managed and sold 85% of the Department of Housing and Urban Development inventory in the state of Michigan with sales reach approximately 80 million dollars. As a director, Dr. Shumake presided over the Affordable Housing Committees in Michigan and Indiana. [ http://drshumake.com/about.htm ] In addition, he was also appointed by the governor of Michigan, as a member of the Board of Real Estate Brokers and Salespersons with responsibilities to regulate and license real estate professionals. Charity work

Dr. Shumake attended Detroit’s Edwin Denby where he was a member of the track team. [ http://shumakerelays.com/about.html ] He attributed many of the skills he used in life to the lessons he learned as a member of the team. He founded the Shumake Relays as “an opportunity for him to help young people realize their goals by spotlighting student athletes”. [ http://shumakerelays.com/about.html ] The Shumake Relays is the largest private track and field meet in Michigan. [ http://www.phdiddy.com/?p=606] The relay takes place each year in Detroit, Michigan.

Dr. Shumake has written: "For Entrepreneurs Who Considered Suicide When Business Got Tough!" [ http://drshumake.com/about.htm ] All profits from his book go towards his charity.

Also funding Shumake’s charity is an album he produced in early 2006. Dr. Shumake created a rap album featuring Umar Bin Hassan of The Last Poets, Big Proof of D12 and M-1 of Dead Prez. The album titled "Take The Land: Elements of Real Estate", consists of 13 tracks all about home ownership and real estate. All profits from this album went directly to Shumake Relays.

Community service

Dr. Shumake is a member of the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, which is located in Detroit, Michigan.
