Tom Høyem

Tom Høyem

Tom Høyem (b. October 10, 1941) was a Danish politician. He served as Minister for Greenland during the Cabinet of Poul Schlüter I, from September 10, 1982 to September 1, 1987 and was succeeded by Mimi Jakobsen.

On September 14, 1984 he was awarded the honour of kommandør af Dannebrogordenen.

He has served as independent election observer for OSCE on behalf of the Danish government in Albania, Bosnia, Montenegro, Ukraine Palastine and Congo .

He has moved to Germany, where he became the principal of the European School in Munich until 2000, and the European School in Karlsruhe thereafter. In 1994, he joined the Freie Demokratische Partei, the German liberal party, and in 2004 he was elected to serve on the Gemeinderat (council) of the city Karlsruhe.
