Russian Strategic Bomber Patrols

*(8/10/07) Guam Flyover: For the first time since the Cold War, a Russian plane squadron consisting of two Tu-95 bombers flew over the US island of Guam in the Pacific. *(2/11/08)US Carrier Flyover: Another pair of Russian bombers overfly the USS Nimitz Carrier, forcing US pilots to intercept. No hostile actions taken.

(8/3/07) Russia Lays Artic Territory Claims

On August 3, 2007 Russia subs planted undersea flags at two locations in the Northern Arctic and redrew the boundaries between Russian and International territory. While Canada, the US, Russia, Norway, and Greenland all held ocean territory north of their mainlands, this is the first attempt to take a large area beyond this into neutral territory.
