Teague (company)

Teague is an award-winning design consultancy headquartered in Seattle, Washington. It was founded in 1926 by industrial design icon, Walter Dorwin Teague. Rooted in the discipline of industrial design, the company’s offering has evolved over the past eight decades to include interaction design, mechanical design and environmental design as well as research and strategy [Aircraft Interiors International “Happy Anniversary” (June 2006)] .

One of the oldest and most established design firms in the world, Teague has made an impact on consumer culture, designing any and every thing from the first Polaroid camera, to the groundbreaking 707, the Reagan-era Air Force One and the famous Microsoft Xbox.

Teague's early work for clients like Kodak, Steuben Glass, Marmon, Texaco and UPS helped define the industrial design industry and set the groundwork for what would later become corporate branding. Beginning a relationship with The Boeing Company at the dawn of the jet age, Teague has contributed to every commercial aircraft the company has produced over the past six decades including the iconic 747 and the new 787 Dreamliner [Core 77 “Last Man Standing: 80 years of Teague Design” (August 2006)] .

Today Teague continues to innovate with clients such as: Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, Samsung, Rockwell-Collins, Panasonic, Starbucks, LG, Oster, T-Mobile and Nike [Design & Emotion “Getting Emotional with John Barratt” (January 2006)] . Their work has been honored with dozens of prestigious design awards including the Red Dot Award, iF Product Design Award, IDEA in association with BusinessWeek and the IDSA, the Good Design Award presented by the Chicago Antheum and the Annual Design Review Award from I.D. Magazine. Media outlets such as BusinessWeek, Metropolis, Surface, Travel & Leisure, CNN Headline News, Gizmodo and Core77 has featured the company and its work.
