Park Mark

Park Mark

The Park Mark (formerly the Secured Car Parks Award), is an award presented to car parks in the United Kingdom that meet the requirements of the Safer Parking Scheme scheme, designed to promote the design and operation of safe and secure car parks. The scheme is administered by the British Parking Association (BPA), a trade confederation, and owned by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) of England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and its Scottish equivalent.

Accreditation to scheme is considered a prestigious award, and as such, "Park Mark" is a registered trade mark in the UK, with recipients entitled to display the official logo on publicity, sings and vehicles. As a nationally recognised scheme, the absence of a Park Mark has been mentioned in the media about car parks that suffer high levels of crime [ [http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/display.var.2274327.0.0.php?act=complaint&cid=1552209 Liverpool Daily Echo] High risk city car parks highlighted, 15 May 2008] , and is used in promotional publicity by Parking companies [ [http://www.q-park.co.uk/web/qparkuk.nsf/pages/AMSM_6R6GLB Q Park page describing Park Mark] ] .

Park Mark is awarded after an assessment by a Police Architectural Liaison Officer, and its status is subsequent to regular re-assessment.
