LaVon Mercer

LaVon Mercer (born 13 January 1959 in Metter, Georgia), is an American-Israeli retired basketball player. He played in the center position (height 2.08m).

He played collegiality for University of Georgia Bulldogs and was selected by the San Antonio Spurs in the 3rd round (60th overall) of the 1980 NBA Draft. [ [http://www.basketball-reference.com/draft/NBA_1980.html 1980 NBA Draft] ]

He played for Hapoel Tel Aviv (1981-1988) and Maccabi Tel Aviv B.C. (1988-1995). LaVon Mercer won won 6 Israeli Champions (1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1994, 1995) and 5 Israeli State Cups (1984, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1994). Playing for Maccabi was also Euroleague's semifinalist (1991) and Euroleague's finalist (1989). Playing for Hapoel was Radivoj Korac Cup semifinalist (1988).Mercer also played for the Israeli national team at the 1986 Basketball world championship and 1987 European championship.
