Rómendacil I was the eighth King of Gondor in J. R. R. Tolkien's fictional universe of Middle-earth.

Rómendacil was born in ME-date|TA|310 as Tarostar, the son of King Ostoher. As crown prince, he rode against the Easterlings and defeated them. After the victory he renamed himself to Rómendacil, meaning "East-victor", under which name he succeeded his father in T.A. 492. He was also responsible for the building of the Argonath. However, his hard-won peace was not to last forever: fifty years later, in T.A. 541, the Easterlings invaded once again, and he rode to meet them in battle but was slain.

He was succeeded by his son Turambar.
