Bishnubrata Bhattacharya was born in
Harishchandrapur , Malda,West Bengal .He was a prominent academician of West Bengal and one of the pioneers of Teachers' Movement in the Post Independence era ofIndia . He was President of Head Masters' Association of West Bengal, and General Secretary, All India Federation for Educational Association until death.Famous freedom fighter of Malda district, Bishnubrata was the nephew of legendary Bidhusekhar Shastri (close associate of
Rabindranath Tagore ). His father's name is Shyamapada Bhattacharya. After completing his Post Graduation in three subjects (Bengali, Sanskrit and Education), he went on to become a teacher. Under his guidance, schools likeJadavpur Vidyapith , Bijoygarh Vidyapith and Chanchal Siddheshwari Institution rose to their prominence.A well known politician, Bishnubrata had worked as the secretary of ex Education Minister of West Bengal Sourindra Mohan Misra. Author of several books Bishnubrata had sown the seeds of Indira Congress in Malda district, well before Abu Barkat Ganikhan Choudhury. He also contested the assembly elections twice under the banner of
Indian National Congress . Keeping behind an unmitigated legacy of pro activeness and social service, Bishnubrata Bhattacharya died on 16 October 1985.References
