Telelogic Synergy is a software tool that provides software configuration management (SCM) capabilities for all artifacts related to software development including source code, documents and images as well as the final built software executables and libraries. Together these two tools form an integrated configuration management and change management environment that is used in software development organizations that need controlled SCM processes and an understanding of what is in a build of their software.

The name "Synergy" refers to its database level integration with Change Management that provides views into what is in a build in terms of defects, change requests, and enhancements.

Distinguishing Features

The task is used to both describe the change and to promote/demote the change to builds and final releases. Synergy is able to track the contents of builds known as baselines in terms of the files that have changed, the tasks that have been added or removed and the defects, enhancements and change requests that are related to the tasks in the build.

History

Synergy began life as a research project for Computers West of Irvine California. By 1988 the other divisions of Computers West were sold off and the reorganized company was focused on developing and selling the now productized Amplify Control configuration management tool. In 1988 the company was renamed CaseWare. They experienced some financial troubles but relaunched in 1991. Both the company and the product were renamed from CaseWare to Continuus Software in 1993.
