The International School of Brussels (ISB) is an English-language day school providing an international education to students from over 60 countries, within an age range from 3 to 18. Founded in 1951, it is situated on a 162,000 m² wooded campus about 9 kilometres from the centre of the city, in the Watermael-Boitsfort commune of Brussels. In 2007 - 2008 school year, about 1,450 students are enrolled at ISB.

tructure

ISB is divided into four schools:
* Early Childhood Centre (ECC): until age 8
* Elementary School (ES): ages 8-12
* Middle School (MS): ages 12-15
* High School (HS): ages 15-18

Each school has a Head who is responsible for day-to-day operation of the school. All Heads report to the director of ISB. The school is governed by a Board of Trustees. Curriculum leadership and educational management is provided by the "Educational Leadership Team", consisting of the Director and the school Heads and Assistant Heads. The school is widely regarded in international education, and is accredited by the Council of International Schools and the Middle States Association. ISB's "Special Education" program is almost unique amongst international schools.

Activities

Students can participate in a number of non-athletic activities. The school features an orchestra, lower and upper level band, jazz band, Symphonic Band, and choir. The drama department holds multiple shows every year. Each school also has a separate student-run yearbook, on which students work the entire year.

Athletics

Students can participate in various sports and athletics. They compete with other international schools in different divisions and countries. Some of the most successful teams are Football(Soccer), Swimming, Baseball, Basketball and American Football though all of the students at this school try hard to succeed, hence the motto, Everyone Included, Everyone Challenged, and Everyone successful. They are big rivals with St. John's International School and the British School of Brussels.

Academics

ISB offers its High School students the opportunity to take either International Baccalaureate diploma or American Advanced Placement courses.

Teaching and learning with technology project

This project has been developed to better incorporate the use of technology in classes. The ISB campus now has a complete wireless network. The many divisions of ISB have different approaches. In the middle school the students have a choice of classes that appeal to their interests. These classes are called electives, many of which are related to technology. These classes include:

* Multimedia Design
* Robotics
* Video Editing
* Digital Photography
* Digital Music
* Keyboarding

One to one computing

In the school year of 2007-08, ISB began a new part of the project, one to one computing. This means that each student in 8th and 10th grade shall receive a Tablet PC. The school year of 2008-2009 shall see all students from the 6th grade and up to participate in the one to one computing.
