Paralomis hystrix belongs to the Paralithodes camtschatica family. It lives in a 180-400 m water depth in Tokyo Bay, Enshunada and through to Kyushu. The crab has few predators because of its small size and acantha. Members of the Paralithodes camtschatica family have large main front legs that offset their comparitiveley small left legs. This is considered to be abnormal.
