"The Little Bear Movie" is a film based on the television series "Little Bear", which in turn is based on the book series of the same name which was written by Else Holmelund Minarik and illustrated by Maurice Sendak.

Production

After innumerable failures of the animated films of Nelvana, in the cinemas due the lack of spreading of the deliverer, Nelvana decided to launch the film direct-to-video.

Plot

Little Bear and Father Bear go camping and encounter another young bear named Cub. When Little Bear learns that Cub has lost his parents, he decides to help Cub find them. And of course, Owl, Hen, Cat and Duck join in the search party too. Along the way, Little Bear, Cub and Duck get separated from the others and must spend the night in the wilderness. When the morning comes, they continue the search for Cub’s parents in a place very different from Little Bear’s world.

Music

"The Little Bear Movie" never had its launched soundtrack. The film contains two pieces of unknown music and the instrumental soundtrack of the series.

Release and Response

The film premiered on television and was released on DVD by Paramount Home Entertainment, having gotten a good number of sales. The movie obtained 100% (one critic) on the site Rotten Tomatoes.
