Bob Weston is an American
musician , producer,recording engineer , and record mastering engineer.Biography
Weston was born and raised in
Waltham, Massachusetts . He earned a B.S. inElectrical Engineering from theUniversity of Lowell, Lowell, MA .While working at the University's campus radio station, WJUL, he began mixing live performances of local Boston bands such as
The Pixies and theBlake Babies .In
1987 Weston joined TheVolcano Suns , playingbass guitar . The group was led by Peter Prescott, (previously thedrummer forMission of Burma , who had broken up in 1983). When Mission of Burma reformed in 2002, Weston replacedMartin Swope , who had added livetape loop s to the group.Weston joined
Steve Albini in Shellac in1991 . Under Albini, Weston honed his studio production skills and has gone on to produce material for bands includingSebadoh ,June of 44 ,Polvo ,The Coctails ,Archers of Loaf , Chavez,Rachel's ,Ken Vandermark , and Rodan, the last of whom named their lone album after Weston's nickname. Bob Weston was also Albini's Assistant Engineer on Nirvana's "In Utero " album.In
2002 , Weston joined the reunitedMission of Burma , taking the place ofMartin Swope as tape manipulator and live engineer for the band. He appears on and recorded the albums "ONoffON " and "The Obliterati ".In early 2007, Weston opened
Chicago Mastering Service with Jason Ward on Chicago's west side.External links
