- List of descendants of Richard Plantagenet, Duke of York
The descendants of Richard Plantagenet, 3rd Duke of York, Yorkist pretender to the throne of the Kingdom of England, are numerous. Richard had a legitimist claim to the throne of England, due to being the senior geneological member of the House of Plantagenet during his lifetime. This was due to the succession of non senior Plantagenet member Henry Bolingbroke of cadet branch the House of Lancaster, from Richard II of England.
Civil war broke out in England between the two cadet houses in the form of the Wars of the Roses, Richard himself died at the Battle of Wakefield and so never took to the throne. However two of Richard's sons, Edward IV of England and Richard III of England would take up his claim and became kings of England. Thus Richard's descendants are of prime importance to the House of York. Richard married Cecily Neville and had thirteen children with her, however only seven survived to maturity. This article deals with the senior descendants of his issue.
