Prominent Hill

Prominent Hill' is the site of a major copper and gold mine in north west South Australia which has been developed by OZ Minerals.

The mine has cost over $1 billion to develop, [cite news |title=Construction costs rise for Australian miner |url=http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/10/30/bloomberg/sxox.php |work=International Herald Tribune |date=2007-10-31 |accessdate=2008-08-29 ] and it is projected to produce 100,000 tonnes of copper and 115,000 oz of gold in concentrates a year.

Approximately 400 jobs will be created when the mine is in production.

The development includes an open-pit mine, a conventional grinding and flotation processing plant, construction of a permanent village to accommodate the workforce and construction of a haulage road, power line and bore field.
