Free Dominion

Free Dominion is a Canadian conservative website. It was inspired by Free Republic in the United States, and a few members contribute to both sites. The site uses the phrase "Principled Conservativism" to describe its ideology.

The lead moderators and former owners of the site are Mark and Connie Fournier, who were both Conservative Party of Canada activists, Mrs. Fournier being the former vice-president and communications of the Conservative riding association in Kingston and the Islands.Fact|date=July 2007 Fournier ran in the 2007 Ontario Election for the Freedom Party of Ontario [ [http://www.freedominion.ca/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=86821&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 View topic - Mark Fournier Accepts Freedom Party Nomination :: Free Dominion - Principled Conservative - Party and Canadian Politics - Canada Blogs ] ]

Many board participants support the Conservative Party of Canada, and some are sympathetic the American Republican Party, but supporters of other conservative parties participate as well. Other parties that some Free Dominion members support include:, at the federal level, the Christian Heritage Party; at the provincial level; Ontario Progressive Conservative Party, Ontario Family Coalition Party, Ontario Freedom Party and Ontario Green Party in Ontario; the Parti Libéral du Québec, Parti Québécois, Action Démocratique du Québec in Québec; and the Alberta Progressive Conservative Party, Social Credit Party of Alberta, Alberta Party, Separation Party of Alberta, Alberta Alliance, Wildrose Party in Alberta; BC Liberal Party, and the Unity Party in British Columbia.

On December 31, 2005, Free Dominion made news when one of its frequent contributors, Gordon Stamp, resigned as Peter Goldring's campaign manager as a result of comments Stamp had posted on Free Dominion about being open to Alberta separatism under certain circumstances. Free Dominion and Mark and Connie Fournier along with several contributors to the site are the subject of defamation lawsuits by human rights lawyer Richard Warman and political activist Warren Kinsella.

In early 2008, the website was sold to Liberty News Service in Panama.
