Rita was always a tough woman and kicked her husband, Bela out after he was unfaithful to her. Rita's had many tragedies in her life, especially when her mother died and her daughter Helen too.
Rita had a relationship with Frank Monaghan but went back to her husband.
In 2008, at Suzanne's wedding to
Damien Halpin , Rita noticed that Jimmy was going through a rough time with his wife Robin. Soon after she suffered a stroke and spent months in hospital recovering. She was later sent to a care home but at her request was brought home. Caring for Rita has put a lot of strain back on Bela which resulted in him taking back up smoking. Rita was disappointed when Jimmy left to live inAustralia .
