Marorka's mission is to deliver products and services to vessel owners and operators to save fuel, increase profitability and reduce harmful emissions.[1] The company was founded in June 2002 and resulted from the PhD. thesis of Dr. Jón Ágúst Thorsteinsson, founder and CEO.
Marorka's field of work:
- consultancy for vessel building
- operational analysis of ocean vessels
- development of Maren, the marine energy management system, and the FM Fuel Management System
Marorka’s systems have been installed on board vessels of various types and sizes; Fishing vessels, Cargo vessels, Cruise ships and Research vessels.
In 2008 Marorka received the Nordic Council’s Nature and Environment Prize. 37 companies were nominated for the award.[1]
Marorka has implemented a quality management system built on the ISO 9001:2000 standard, certified by Det Norske Veritas.
