On August 19, 2008 the 6th generation Archos players were revealed. The 3 models are the Archos 5 , Archos 7, and Archos 5G. The products are known as "Internet Media Tablets". Availability ranges from September to December based on model.
Archos 5
The Archos 5 will feature harddrive sizes 60 to 250GB. This player has the more powerful ARM Cortex [http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-10019920-1.html] . Additionally the player has added format support (some through plug-ins) and includes the updated Opera web browser with Adobe Flash 9 support, web radio, and web TV plug in for free with registration, where as it had to be purchased as a bundle for the 5th generation players.
Archos 5G
The Archos 5G offers a 30GB size. The Archos 5 and 5G have a similar appearance but the Archos 5G adds 3.5G HSDPA wireless connectivity in addition to WiFi which the entire series has. It requires a SIM card with an available 3G or 3.5G data service.
Archos 7
The Archos 7 will offer 250GB and 320GB. It has a 7" screen and built in Wi-Fi and is an update to the 705 WiFi
Add-ons
Accessories similar to those in previous generations are available including the DVR Dock, Helmet Cam, and Travel Dock. The Archos 5 and 5G can use the same GPS add-on unit offered for the 605 WiFi
