call sign since1993 . It is not related to the Watertown, New York-basedPBS member stationWPBS-TV (which has paid to license the "WPBS" name), and is not related in any way toNPR or thePBS television network.Prior to
1993 , the station was assigned thecall sign of WPBE in1989 , and WTPO in1986 . In September2003 , the station changed operating frequency from its original 1050 kHz to its current 1040 kHz. In May2005 , the station changed its programming format fromGospel ("Praise 1040") to "Planeta X" Spanishtalk radio format (which moved fromWPBC (AM) at the time in the same Atlanta radio market).
