Gay Lisle Griffith Mandeville

The Rt Rev Gay Lisle Griffith Mandeville was Bishop of Barbados from 1951 until 1960 [Crockford's clerical directory1976 Lambeth, Church House, 1975 ISBN 0180153674] . He was born on May 20 1894 and educated at Harrison College and Codrington College, Barbados [“Who was Who” 1897-1990 London, A & C Black, 1991 ISBN 071363457X] . After graduation he was ordained in 1918 and began his ecclesiastical career with a curacy at St George, St Kitts followed by the post of Rector of Saba in what was then the "Dutch West Indies" and is now Netherlands Antilles. He then returned to his home country where he was successively Vicar of "St Bartholomew" then "St Stephen"; Rector of "St Philip"; Vicar General then Dean and finally Bishop of Barbados.
