Both sides of the southern end of Stetson Mountain drain into Baskahegan Stream, thence into the Mattawamkeag River. First Wind (then UPC Wind) received the approval of the Maine Land Use Regulation Commission (LURC) for its 57megawatt (MW) Stetson WindProject. Thirty-eight 1.5 MWGeneral Electric wind turbine s strung along the ridge of Stetson Mtn. are expected to produce approximately 150 millionkilowatt-hour s (17 MW·yr) of electricity annually.
