Ray Hsu (born 1978) is a North American
poet ,activist , andscholar .Biography
Hsu grew up in
Toronto, Ontario . Hsu received an Honours B.A. and an M.A. in English literature from theUniversity of Toronto and is receiving his Ph.D. in English literary studies from theUniversity of Wisconsin-Madison . He is currently based in Vancouver, where he is a postdoctoral teaching fellow in creative writing at theUniversity of British Columbia .He has published poems in thirty-four journals and magazines including
The Walrus ,New American Writing , andFence . His work has appeared in such anthologies as "Breathing Fire 2: Canada's New Poets" and "The Echoing Years: An Anthology of Poetry from Canada & Ireland." In 2007 he was featured on theBook Television andBravo! documentary series "Heart of a Poet".His areas of research include twentieth century
American literature ,American studies , andcultural theory . He has presented at national and international conferences on his work developing collaborative projects between U.S. prisons and universities.Books
