History
The Youth of the United Nations Group - Trinidad & Tobago (YOUNG-TT) is a non-profit community organization was founded in 2008 by Tamara Brathwaite, Liam Rezende, Kirtney Andrews, Michelle Seeraj, Sean Samad, Dayne-Marc Chin Slick and Ian Royer under the guidance of Grace Talma, in conjunction with the students of the 2008 Model United Nations Assembly with one main goal:
To advocate the message of the United Nations and ensure that Trinidad & Tobagonians contribute to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.
The Youth of the United Nations Group - Trinidad and Tobago (YOUNG-TT) is intended to actively involve the Youth in the country in the discussion of international affairs by exposing them to international topics and involving them in social events aimed at developing their social and personal skills.
YOUNG-TT also assists young people by broadcasting their views and opinions on current local, regional and global issues; as the country will benefit by having a larger pool of focused motivated and skilled young leaders. It will also facilitate youth projects and events such as fundraisers, community activities and conferences. The Group members are committed volunteers who act on the basis of goodwill.
Affiliations
YOUNG-TT is currently affiliated with the
United Nations Association of Trinidad & Tobago, (UNATT), a member of theWorld Federation of United Nations Associations . Currently the group is in the process of becoming it's own separately registered and administered NGO both within Trinidad & Tobago and with the United Nations and will maintain its UNATT ties.pokes Persons
