River Thames at Reading in the English county ofBerkshire . The bridge links the site of theReading Festival , on the south bank of the river, with camp sites and car parking on the north bank. The intention is that the bridge will be dismantled and stored for most of the year, being re-erected for future festivals. It replaces a
ferry service operated in previous years, which caused complaints over excessive queues.cite web | title = Reading festival bridge to open | url = http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/berkshire/7566550.stm | publisher =BBC | date = 2008-08-17 | accessdate = 2008-08-18 ] cite web | title = New bridge for music festival fans | url = http://ukpress.google.com/article/ALeqM5iazU06iGbj4qL3meWXJrJeUN2jwQ | publisher = Associated Press | accessdate = 2008-08-18 ]The bridge crosses the river from the western end of the main festival site, some convert|200|m|abbr=on east of "Scours Lane" and within the Borough of Reading.
