Quinton House School is a profit-making coeducational independent school located in the village of Upton, near Northampton in Northamptonshire, England. Since 2004 the school has been owned and operated by the Cognita Group. Quinton House School is the only co-educational independent school to offer senior education in the Northampton area.

History

*1946 - Estate sold on death of Mr James, last private owner. Buildings given to Sir Thomas White's trust. Lease taken out on Upton Hall.
*1947 - Upton Hall School fully opened by 3 ladies surnamed 'Teape'.
*1962 - Mr and Mrs MacDonald take over Upton Hall School.
*1966 - Miss Madden takes over and renames the School, 'Quinton House School'.
*1976 - Mr and Mrs Hoskison purchase Quinton House School from Miss Madden.
*1986 - Ownership of buildings pass to Northampton Borough Council. Upton Hall re-roofed.
*1988 - Mr and Mrs Griffiths become partners of the School.
*1989 - Junior School and Senior School swap buildings.
*1990 - Sports Field laid in walled garden.
*1991 - Sixth form opened.
*1992 - Sports pavilion opened.
*1996 - Celebrations: '50 years of a school at Upton Hall'.
*2000 - Millennium concert and celebrations. Mr Griffiths retires. Mr Oliver takes over as Head.
*2003 - Mr Oliver retires and Mrs Griffiths becomes Head.
*2004 - Mr Chatburn becomes Head. Cognita arrives.
*2006 - Mr O'Leary becomes Head. Celebrations: '60 years of a school at Upton Hall'

The school today

The school has been established for over 60 years at Upton Hall, where some of the buildings date from the 14th century. However there have been more recent developments at the school, such as enclosing the current open air courtyard, with a bespoke glazed atrium construction. This area isused as a dining room and assembly for the Junior School. The school takes pupils aged 2 through to 18, and is divided into a Nursery, Junior, Senior schools, and the Sixth Form. The school was the first to join the Cognita Group, with Cognita now being the largest independent schools business in the UK.
