Gina Pellón (born December 26, 1926) is a
Cuba n painter who lives inFrance . She is known for her abstract expressive paintings in strong colours, usually depicting women. She has also written collections of poems.In 1959 she fled from the Cuban
dictatorship ofFidel Castro , and in 1960 she made her first solo exhibition inLuzern ,Switzerland . Since then she has mad exhibitions in various countries. Particularly in France where she lives, but also in the United States. She got a close relationship to the Danish painterAsger Jorn from the CoBrA group, and the influence from this artistic group is obvious in her works.Literature
