- Calypso Park
Calypso Park is a
waterpark under construction inLimoges, Ontario (about 20 minutes East ofOttawa ).The Park is being built by Village Vacances Valcartier and is set to open in June 2009.
Calypso Park will not only be the country’s largest waterpark, Village Vacances Valcartier development planner Sylvain Lauzon says. “It’s going to feel just like if you were on a beach in the Caribbean.”
The park’s wave pool will be a 10,000-square-foot concrete pool, one of the biggest in North America.
Aside from the acre-big wave pool, visitors will enjoy soaking in an artificial river with current strong enough to make it fun for all ages. Floating along this river will also be a feast for the eyes, Lauzon said. All throughout the park, themes will be developed to make Calypso no less of a theme park than Disneyland.
The park and its 500 seasonal employees will be able to welcome 12,000 visitors at once.
The Calypso experience will include several food outlets, shops, locker and changing areas, as well as a picnic area for groups and spots to lie under the sun.
